Do you offer free estimates?

Will you take back my old equipment from my current provider?
Yes. If you're replacing a rented water heater or HVAC system, we'll handle the full transition:
Disconnect and remove your old rental equipment
Coordinate the return with your previous provider
Install your new DT Air system the same day
Important: Check with your current provider about any buyout or exit fees before switching — these come from them, not from us. DT Air does not charge any cancellation or switching fees.

How does the monthly rental plan work?
Simple — we supply and install your equipment at no upfront cost. You pay a flat monthly rental fee. The rental includes:

Rental rates start at $19.95/mo for tank water heaters, $39.95/mo for tankless, $44.95/mo for furnaces and AC, and $54.95/mo for heat pumps. All prices plus HST.
Will my monthly price ever go up?
We keep price increases minimal and fair. If any adjustment is made, it'll be a small annual amount — never a surprise. We believe in transparency: your rate at sign-up is what you plan your budget around, and we respect that.
Unlike some large HVAC rental companies that dramatically increase rates after introductory periods, we don't play that game.
What happens if I move?
Moving is no problem. You have two options:
Transfer the rental to the next homeowner — they take over your monthly plan. Clean and simple.
Purchase the equipment at a reduced rate before you move, so it's an asset you take with you (for portable equipment) or leave as added value to the home.
Just give us 30 days notice before your move date and we'll handle the rest.
Is the rental a long-term contract?
There's a standard minimum term (typically 1 year) after which you can cancel or purchase the equipment. We're not in the business of locking customers into unfair contracts — the rental is designed to be fair and flexible.
Unlike the old-school rental contracts some companies still use, we don't have multi-decade lock-ins or massive buyout penalties.
Can I buy the equipment after renting?
Yes — at any time. If you decide you'd rather own your equipment outright, you can purchase it from us. The purchase price is reduced based on how long you've been renting. Call us to get your current buyout price.
What's the difference between renting and purchasing?
Rental: No upfront cost. Monthly fee. Includes parts, labour, and annual maintenance. Great if you want predictable costs and zero hassle.
Purchase: Pay upfront from $4,000. You own it. Manufacturer warranty applies. Best if you plan to stay in your home long-term and want to build equity.

How long does a typical installation take?
Most residential installations are completed in a single day:
Furnace replacement: 3–5 hours
Central AC installation: 4–6 hours
Heat pump (ductless): 4–6 hours
Tank water heater: 2–3 hours
Tankless water heater: 4–6 hours (involves gas, venting, and electrical)
If complications arise — unusual ductwork, code upgrades, or complex venting — we'll always tell you upfront.
Do you offer same-day installation?
Yes — same-day installs are available subject to technician and equipment availability. Emergency installs are prioritized — if your furnace fails in January or your AC dies in August, we'll get to you as fast as humanly possible.

Is installation included in the price?
Always. Whether you're renting or purchasing, professional installation is included in the quoted price. There are no separate "labour" line items or surprise fees added at the end.
The price we quote before we start is the price you pay. That's the DT Air flat-rate promise.
Can you install multiple systems at once?
Yes. If you're replacing a furnace, AC, and water heater at the same time, we can coordinate a single visit to handle everything. This is often more efficient and less disruptive than scheduling multiple appointments.

Do you clean up after the installation?
Absolutely. We remove our shoes at the door, lay down protective covering in work areas, and clean up completely before we leave — including removing all packaging, old equipment, and debris. We leave your home exactly as we found it, minus the old broken system.

What warranty do you provide?
Rental plans: Full parts and labour coverage for the duration of your rental. If we can't fix it, we replace it.
Purchased equipment: Full manufacturer warranty (typically 5–10 years on major components) plus our own labour warranty.
Labour warranty: All our installation work is warranted — if something we installed fails due to our workmanship, we fix it at no charge.
Do you service equipment you didn't install?
Yes. We service most major HVAC brands regardless of who installed them — Lennox, Carrier, Goodman, Trane, Keeprite, York, Daikin, and more. Call us with your equipment make and model and we'll confirm we can service it.
How quickly do you respond to emergency calls?
Emergency calls are our top priority. We aim for same-day response for no-heat and no-cooling emergencies. Call (647) 677-0037 directly — we answer the phone and dispatch a technician as fast as possible. Rental plan clients get priority emergency scheduling.
Do you offer annual maintenance?
Yes — annual tune-ups and maintenance visits are available for all systems, whether you're a rental client or purchased outright. Regular maintenance prevents breakdowns, keeps your system efficient, and extends its lifespan. Rental clients receive one annual maintenance visit included in their plan.

What size furnace do I need for my home?
As a general guide for Ontario homes:
Up to 1,500 sq ft: 45,000 BTUs
1,500–2,500 sq ft: 70,000 BTUs
2,500–3,500 sq ft: 90,000 BTUs
3,500–4,500 sq ft: 110,000+ BTUs
These are starting points only. Proper sizing depends on insulation, ceiling height, window quality, and your home's age. We do a proper load calculation before every install — no guessing.
What's the difference between single-stage and two-stage furnaces?
Single-stage: On or off. Runs at 100% capacity every time. More temperature swings, less efficient, but lower upfront cost.
Two-stage: Low (65%) for mild days, high (100%) for extreme cold. More consistent temps, quieter, ~15–20% more efficient. Costs more upfront but saves on utility bills.
For most Ontario homes, a two-stage furnace is worth the extra investment. We'll advise based on your specific situation during the free assessment.
What is a heat pump and is it worth it in Ontario?
A heat pump is a single system that both heats in winter and cools in summer — essentially an AC that can run in reverse. Modern cold-climate heat pumps work efficiently down to −30°C, making them very practical for Ontario winters.
Is it worth it? Often yes, especially because:
Government rebates (Canada Greener Homes, Enbridge) can significantly reduce the cost
Electricity costs for heating are often lower than gas at current rates
You eliminate two systems (furnace + AC) and replace with one

What is a ductless mini-split and who needs one?
A ductless mini-split consists of an outdoor compressor and one or more indoor wall-mounted units. No ductwork required — just a small hole in the wall for the refrigerant lines.
Perfect for:
Home additions that aren't connected to central ductwork
Detached garages, workshops, or sunrooms
Condos or older homes without existing ducts
Targeting a specific room that's always too hot or too cold

40 gallon (151L): 1–2 person household, smaller home
50 gallon (189L): 3–4 person household — most common in Ontario
60 gallon (227L): 5–6 person household or high hot water usage
Tankless: Any household size — unlimited hot water on demand, sized by flow rate

Tank vs tankless — which should I get?
Tank water heater: Lower upfront cost, simpler technology, easy to replace. Great for most homes. Hot water stored and kept warm 24/7 — slight standby energy loss.
Tankless: Heats water on demand — no tank, no standby loss. Can cut water heating costs by 30–40%. Endless hot water. Higher upfront cost but lower operating cost long-term.
For families with heavy hot water use, or anyone renovating, tankless is worth considering. We'll give you an honest recommendation based on your usage and budget.
My water heater is leaking — what should I do?
Call us immediately — (647) 677-0037. A leaking water heater is an emergency.
While you wait:
Turn off the cold water supply to the tank (valve on top)
Turn the thermostat to "pilot" or turn off the gas
If there's significant water, turn off the electrical breaker for the unit
Most leaking tanks need replacement, not repair. We can often get to you same-day and have a new unit installed before the day is out.
How long does a water heater last?
Tank water heaters: 8–12 years on average. Hard water areas (much of Brampton) can reduce this to 7–9 years.
Tankless water heaters: 15–20 years with proper maintenance (annual descaling).
If your tank is over 8 years old and showing any issues — rusty water, slow recovery, fluctuating temperatures — it's worth replacing proactively before it fails and causes water damage.
